About Us

Luce (“Loochay”) Conservatory of Fine Arts was established in 2012 by Gladysue Hovis and Jeremiah Moore. With their professional experience in dance and art, respectively, they decided to collaboratively develop a place where people of all ages and skill levels could further their artistic endeavors. Whether they be children looking to discover new interests, people looking for a creative outlet, or someone seeking professional training, Luce Conservatory of Fine Arts is designed to serve all levels of study. Those who choose to study at Luce Conservatory of Fine Arts will find a family friendly environment that encourages creativity and self expression, while promoting strong moral character and discipline.

The study of dance helps students develop social skills, discipline, self-confidence, kinesthetic awareness, artistic expression, as well as increasing cognitive ability. As the dance department of Luce Conservatory of Fine Arts is in its initial stages, ballet and creative movement will be the main forms of dance offered; with an emphasis on the execution of proper technique. The study of ballet is important and necessary for the development of a well-trained dancer of any dance discipline. And the study of creative movement is developmentally appropriate for younger students. As students progress through the creative movement and ballet curricula they will develop the strength and coordination necessary for more advanced course work; such as, pointe, partnering, and choreography. With the growth of the Conservatory more dance styles will be added. Dance students will have the opportunity to participate in a performance at the end of the year.

Visual Arts

As a fundamental form of communication, the visual arts are a unique format through which ideas are shared. The primary objective of the Visual Arts Department is the development of artists of all ages who can effectively share their ideas. To facilitate this development, there are three key areas of focus: technical proficiency, creativity, and critical thinking. Through these key areas our students learn how to use a variety of materials, how to transform their ideas into a unique visual image, and how to determine the effectiveness of both the artmaking process and final product. We help our students to make intentional decisions about their artwork and their lives.Classes are designed to encourage age appropriate artistic growth. Our younger students are given room to explore and experiment, while our older students are encouraged to thoroughly work through their ideas and develop their own unique voice. Although most classes meet as a group, we have great respect for individual development and understand that all students will progress at their own pace. We encourage our students to communicate and help one other through the critique process and by maintaining an open dialogue.
